Small black dogs could hide in a dark ship and the rats could not see the dogs coming. Williamstown dockyard had a black dog for many years. Williamstown was called 'Dogtown' because dogs would bark throughout the night chasing the rats.

Ike was born of 16 March 1999 he is two years old, he was born to street muts, mother was a Pomerian, father was a Fox terrier. This has made him a very clever an robust dog.
